CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s tick season, and although you might know ways to prevent ticks, 22News is working for you with what you need to do if you’ve been bit.

To safely remove a tick, first disinfect the area with an alcohol swab. Next, pull out the tick head, as close to the skin as possible, and pull straight out.

After you remove the tick, write down the date you were bit, and where. Do not try and burn the tick, or flush it down the toilet. You should save it and bring it to get tested.
