WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Construction workers are diligent about completing West Springfield’s new Public Library by the fall of 2015.
The library’s main building, which dates back to 1916 is part of the renovation, along with the addition of a new wing. While the work continues, the library is temporarily operating out of a former parochial school at 511 Main St.
West Springfield Middle School eighth grader Joshua Thompson has been spending a lot of time there this summer.
“It’s closer to home and I can get here quickly on my bike,” Thompson said.
The $16 million renovations began in February of this year. When it is complete, they will mark the West Springfield library’s first major improvements in almost 40 years.
