HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Double Six bar, located on High Street in Holyoke, is back open for business. The city’s license commission reinstated the bar’s liquor license Thursday morning.
The city suspended the bar’s license after police claimed their 18+ nights were to blame for riots, gunshots, and other disturbances in the area.
The bar’s attorney, Daniel Kelly, told 22News it was a misunderstanding.
“They’ve been here for a couple of years, the owners themselves own other businesses in the city of Holyoke, they are proud sponsors of the city of Holyoke, they want to run a great business, they do run a great business. There were some misperceptions about what was going on and we’re hopeful we can clear those up,” Kelly said.
The bar is free to open, but will not host 18+ nights yet. There will be a meeting August 6 to discuss the parameters of 18+ nights.
