Springfield police searching for cell phone robber

Man implied he had a gun, victim says

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)- Police are looking for a man that was involved with a reported armed robbery in East Springfield late Wednesday night.

Just before midnight, Officers spoke with a 51-year-old man who said he had been at the Hess Station on St. James Boulevard, where he was approached by a man.  The man implied he had a gun and took the victim’s cell phone.

The victim was not hurt.

The suspect was described as being in his mid to late 20’s, stands about 6 feet tall, and had been wearing an orange shirt and black do-rag at the time.
