Man killed in motorcycle crash at Memorial Bridge Rotary

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Memorial Bridge was blocked off Tuesday night while police investigated a deadly motorcycle accident.

West Springfield Police Captain Dan Spaulding told 22News 49-year-old Michael Strom of Connecticut was killed when he hit a car and guard rail at the Memorial Avenue Rotary coming off the bridge. Captain Spaulding said Strom is originally from Feeding Hills, but his motorcycle is registered in Farmington, Conn.

The bridge was blocked off at West Columbus Avenue in Springfield for traffic heading west across the river. Cars were being allowed to cross from Memorial Avenue in West Springfield coming over to Springfield.

The bridge, which had been closed since 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, was re-opened before midnight.
