WOLCOTT, Conn. (WTNH) – A tornado unexpectedly touched down in Wolcott on Sunday afternoon.

Wolcott police say at around 12:54 p.m. a confirmed EF-0 rated tornado touched down. Police say “it started in the area of Pats IGA, traveled in a northeastern direction up Minor Road, then through the woods behind the High School, across the High School baseball field, past the library, up Kalko Drive, across Saddle Road, then lifted off.”

There were several trees damaged. A trailer, a portable baseball backstop and a roof of a house were also damaged. The same tree that damaged the trailer landed on the roof of a house on Kalko Drive. This caused minor damage and tore out electrical service.

No injuries have been reported. Minor Road and Deer Run were blocked for a short time until the town crew cleared the trees from the road.
