CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – Unlike most Summer action thrillers that get dumber and dumber, “Lucy” literally gets smarter and smarter. Scarlett Johansson is simply terrific playing the brainy heroine who sees her I.Q. go fright through the roof as she battles a gang of Asian drug smugglers while she dazzles the Paris police.

The great French director, Luc Besson’s daredevil car chases cater to the action  crowd, while he challenges a more thoughtful audience with this science fiction thriller about Johansson being blessed or cursed with the ability to use all of her potential brainpower.

Besson’s stylish directing turns the outrageously Improbable plotline into a gripping study of what If, someone had the capacity to extend the limits of the Intelligence?

And Lucy’s doing a very good job of convincing Professor Morgan Freeman to keep going with his breakthrough research on the possibilities of becoming super smart.

We can thank “Lucy” for restoring our faith in Summer movies being more than just empty headed exercise in visual effects.

“Lucy” uses all of its smarts to get you right here and here with three stars. Scarlett Johansson’s star has never burned brighter than deciding to put on her thinking cap and play “Lucy”.
