SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Many of the children recovering at the Springfield Shriners hospital are far from home and on Saturday, they were treated to a pleasant distraction.
A car show in the Hospital parking lot helped lift the spirits of these young people. The Melha Shriners, along with the cable network NESN, put together a display of cars and collectibles called Cruisin’ New England.
It’s one of many events the Shriners bring to the young patients every year.
Lee Roberts of the Springfield Shriners hospital told 22News, “So all of the children who come here, they came for elective surgery. Whether they have insurance or not, we will give the services of our doctors so that we can help the child.”
In addition to the Springfield Shriners hospital, Shriners across the country support 21 similar medical facilities in the United States.
