GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An alleged drunk driver was arrested after he backed his car into a Greenfield police cruiser Thursday night. Greenfield Police posted on their official Facebook page that Dion Cadiz, 24, of Turners Falls is facing charges including operating under the influence of alcohol following the incident, which happened around 11:00 P.M.

According to police, an officer was working a traffic detail at Loomis Rd. and Turners Falls Road, when Cadiz drove by and did not stop. The policeman had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by his car. The officer yelled for Cadiz to stop, and he did, but police say he was in the way of the construction work, so the policeman told Cadiz to back up.

When he did so, Cadiz allegedly hit the officer’s cruiser. Following a short investigation, Cadiz was arrested. Neither he nor the officer was hurt, and the cruiser was not badly damaged.
