HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some local-job seekers had to leave the CareerPoint career center in Holyoke after a driver crashed through the front entrance to the building around midday Friday. Holyoke Police Sgt. Stephen Loftus told 22News that the driver of the car was taken to Holyoke Medical Center for minor injuries.
David Gadaire, the Executive Director of CareerPoint, told 22News that no one inside the building at 850 High Street was hurt. But he added that they had to immediately shut down their resource center, which serves about 1,000 people each day. They are hoping that they will be able to re-open on Monday.
“For some people, it’s kind of building their resumes, building their portfolio so they can get ready. That is basically on hold,” Gadaire said.
In addition to CareerPoint, the building also houses chiropractic and law offices.
Police are still looking into what caused the crash, and will be talking to the driver, Loftus said.
