Springfield Jewish community holds rally for solidarity

More than a hundred people from across western Mass. gathered

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Jewish community in Springfield rallied on Thursday night to support an end to the war between Israel and Palestine.

More than a hundred people from across western Massachusetts gathered at the Springfield Jewish Community Center on Thursday to create an open dialogue about the conflict overseas. One resident told 22News, he wants the violence to stop, for both countries sake.

“This particular situation has seen so much suffering. Where as one hand, we are strongly and firmly behind Israel’s right to defend itself. But of course, we want an end to all violence and bloodshed,” said Max Davis of Longmeadow.

A Hamas spokesman accused Israel of “committing massacres.” Israel says Hamas puts Palestinians in danger by hiding weapons and fighters in civilian areas. So far, more then 800 Palestinians have been killed. Israel has lost 32 soldiers and two civilians.
