SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fundraiser was held in Springfield Thursday night to help raise money for the police department’s second annual “Ride to Remember.”
The Luxe Burger Bar on West Columbus Avenue was packed with people out to support the Ride to Remember mission.
More than 200 law enforcement and public safety officers will ride 106 miles to raise public awareness for officers who have died in the line of duty.
Tom Murphy, a 2nd year participant, told 22News, “I felt a great deal of pride to be involved and to be participating in something so meaningful. To ride with these people who go out everyday, and put their lives on the line, it was special.”
Last years race was in honor of Springfield Police Officer Kevin Ambrose and Westfield Police Officer Jose Torres. This year’s ride takes place on September 20th.
