Weekly breakfasts provide outreach to homeless

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Craig’s Doors and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst invited their community for a free breakfast Wednesday morning.

Craig’s Doors is a home association with a mission to provide shelter and services to the homeless. Aside from breakfast, anyone who attends these weekly events will also have access to blood pressure screenings, wellness checks, food stamp applications, and other resources.

Volunteer Glen Bertrand told 22News why he felt strongly about supporting Craig’s Doors and these weekly meals.

“One of the principles Unitarian Universalists hold very dear is the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We thought this would be a good way to demonstrate that important value to others,” Bertrand said.

The weekly breakfasts will be held at the Unitarian Meetinghouse at the corner of North Pleasant Street and Kellogg Ave from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday mornings. Everyone is invited.
