HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The owner, Holyoke Gas and Electric is considering a sale of that land to Gary Rome Hyundai of Holyoke.
HG&E Manager James LaValle submitted a letter Tuesday night to the Ordinance Committee, saying the contract negotiation is going on right now, and if the sale goes through, a zoning change might be needed.
Meantime a new survey revealed that neighbors near Whiting Farms Road want a development that would preserve the air and water quality and the view of the neighborhood.
“What the Office of Planning and Economic Development has not yet figured out is what the best and preferred use would be for that parcel. The survey results are showing that Industrial Park is not the preferred use by the residents,” Holyoke City Councilor Rebecca Lisi said.
Residents have submitted a petition to change the zoning of the land from General Business to Industrial Park.
The Planning Board will hold another public hearing on that petition on August 12th.
