WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Members of the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield took flight Tuesday night.

Three F-15 Eagles launched around 8:30 p.m. The planes were headed to Long Island as part of routine practice to ensure pilots are ready to respond to airborne threats during the nighttime, or anytime.

Over the next two weeks, people who live in the Westfield area may notice some increased jet noise during the evening hours. The training will take place through August 1st.

According to Senior Master Sergeant Robert Sabonis, the missions will begin between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M., and end between 8:30 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.
