Fashion Alert wins Schuylerville at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Fashion Alert outdueled Take Charge Brandi to win the $150,000 Schuylerville by 1 1/2 lengths on opening day at Saratoga Race Course.

Fashion Alert was favored in a field of five 2-year-old fillies. She was timed in 1:11.78 for six furlongs in the Grade 3 race Friday. Take Charge Brandi was second, 7 ¾ lengths ahead of Tulira’s Star.

Trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by George Hall and Barry Hall, Fashion Alert has won both her races. She captured another stakes, the Astoria, in her debut June 14.

She paid $2.40, $2.10 and $2.10. Take Charge Brandi returned $3.40 and $2.20 and Tulira’s Star paid $2.40.

In the day’s co-feature, Tourist led from gate to wire to win the $100,000 Sir Cat by 1 3/4 lengths over Ring Weekend.

The 3-year-old Tiznow colt ran one mile over the inner turf course in 1:33.54 and paid $5.40, $3.50 and $2.60.
