CLINTON, Conn. (WWLP) – Employees of a McDonalds restaurant on the Connecticut shoreline called police about a woman from Springfield who they say appeared to be drunk while using their drive thru window. They also reported that she had a small child in the car.
Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn of the Clinton, Connecticut police department told 22News that Michelle Dion, 28, is being charged with driving under the influence and risk of injury to a minor following the incident Wednesday evening.
According to Dunn, workers at the fast food restaurant on Route 1 called police at around 7:45 P.M. Officers got there to find Dunn in the drive thru lane with a two year-old in her vehicle. He says that police found Dion was “extremely intoxicated,” and they arrested her.
The two year-old was taken into protective custody and brought to the Clinton police station. The toddler was later turned over to a family member. The Department of Children and Families was notified by police, and is investigating the case.
Dion was held at the police station on $1,000 bond. She will be arraigned Thursday at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
