BOSTON (WWLP) – A state task force released recommendations Thursday to help keep students safe inside Massachusetts schools.

The School Safety and Security Task Force was formed in January in response to recent school shootings around the country.

The report said schools should develop and follow emergency response plans, ensure classroom doors lock from the inside and tailor emergency procedures for students with special needs.

The task force also announced a $200,000 grant program to fund safety improvements at schools.
