ERVING, Mass. (WWLP) – A helicopter landed on Route Two in Erving to take an injured rock climber to the hospital.
Athol State Police were called to assist with traffic so the chopper could land at the intersection of Maple Ave and Route Two in Erving a little before five o’clock tonight.
State Police Sgt. Robert Schumaker told 22News that a climber was injured when he fell 20 to 30 feet while traveling along the “Farley Ledges.”
Farley Ledge is a remote, but popular spot for rock-climbing enthusiasts. There is no word yet on the condition or the identity of the climber.
