MassDOT installing monitoring devices in Springfield

Being done in advance of I-91 project

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Crews from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation have been putting down and taking out traffic monitoring devices around the city of Springfield. The 24-hour data collectors are scattered throughout the city to help MassDOT understand local traffic patterns.

The research is all in preparation for the I-91 viaduct reconstruction project, which, as drivers experienced firsthand Wednesday night, is badly needed. The devices will be put down at select intersections and side streets throughout the next few weeks.
