SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Organizers of this year’s Puerto Rican Parade are hoping you will get involved in this year’s festivities. The annual parade starts in the city’s North End and continues down Main Street.
This year’s parade will be on September 14; to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15. They are also hoping the September date will allow some schools to get involved.
“The goal here is to get more participation from folks. Schools being one of them. We want to reach out to the schools, we want to see if they’ll allow their bands to participate in this parade,” said Edward Nunez of the parade planning committee.
Organizers say they hope to have the entire local community represented at this years event; not just the Latino community.
