SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – 22News is working for you with a cone zone traffic alert that will affect drivers in Springfield and East Longmeadow. Starting on Wednesday, Cooley Street in Springfield from Allen Street to the East Longmeadow line will be closed to through traffic between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Cooley Street turns into Elm Street in East Longmeadow, and that will be closed as well for its entire length; from the Springfield line to the East Longmeadow Rotary.
Only local traffic and emergency vehicles will be allowed through during those hours. Drivers wishing to go between Springfield and East Longmeadow should instead take Parker Street or Harkness Avenue.
East Longmeadow DPW Superintendent Bob Peirent told 22News that this is part of a “road reclamation project” in which the roadway will be re-graded, reshaped, and repaved. The road closures are expected to continue until Friday, July 25.
