Car and house break-ins in Springfield

Suspects forced their way into homes through garages, windows, and unlocked doors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police are investigating several reports of car and house break-ins.

These crimes have taken place over the last four days, and they are spread out all over the city. Residents reported car breaks on Falmouth St., Lyman St. and Lawton Street. House breaks were reported on Venture St., Washburn St. and Quincy St.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that home break suspects forced their way into the homes through garages, windows or an unlocked door.

One Springfield resident told 22News that he worries about his daughter, who lives in Springfield.

“I tell her always keep her phone on so if I call you, you can answer, and keep in contact,” says Nate Kennedy. “I just make sure everything, and I live on the first floor, make sure all the windows are locked.”

Sgt. Delaney said residents can notify their local police department if they are going on vacation.
