The benefits of being outside in the morning instead of the afternoon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – There’s nothing like spending a splendid Saturday enjoying the outdoors. 22News found that some people prefer to beat the heat by exerting themselves early in the day before it gets too warm.

It’s a lot more comfortable exercising at 8 o’clock Saturday morning when it was 65 degrees than say at two o’clock in the afternoon when 80 degrees could make you hot under the collar.

Many people get up early on Saturday to do what several hours later could take a lot more out of them.

“The earlier is better, it’s cooler, there are fewer bugs and I can hang out for a little while afterwards. I come over at least three times a week to run at least three miles whatever I can do in 30 minutes, that’s all my knee will take,” said Verne McArthur of Springfield.

It’s what 22News kept hearing from the early morning crowd at Forest Park. It’s not as hot and conditions are a lot more comfortable to exercise. That, plus the fact there aren’t nearly as many people as there would be later in the day.
