(WSMV) Many of us look up to our fathers as heroes, but to Wyatt Braden, his father walked the walk until he took his last breath.
One of the last things Sgt. 1st Class Michael Braden did was proudly drop off his son at the recruiting station in Jackson, the same trip he took 27 years ago.
“He died with his boots on the ground. He died a soldier, that’s the way he wanted to die,” Wyatt said.
Wyatt loved his dad. Sgt. Braden was both a hero in a uniform and a father, a larger-than-life combination that will be with him forever.
They also shared a love of military life, and in fact, just a few hours before he was killed in a shooting at the National Guard Armory, Sgt. Braden was with Wyatt, taking care of him before turning his son over to the Army.
