Plane lands near a Massachuestts high school

CHELMSFORD, Mass. (WWLP) — A small airplane made an emergency landing in a field near Chelmsford High School on Friday afternoon.

According to the Chelmsford Police, around 4:12 p.m., there was a report of a plane down in the field on Graniteville Road. Officers found a single engine 1979 Cessna 182Q had landed.

There was only one person in the plane, a man, and he was not injured. Police said there was no fire, no fuel leakage, and no environmental impact of any kind.

The plane took off from Minute Man Air Field and was expected to return but experienced mechanical problems in the engine, according to the pilot’s statements to police.

Chelmsford Police secured the scene and notified the Massachusetts Port Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration, which will investigate the emergency landing.
