Guidance counselor accused of statutory rape

Brian McBride accused of having relationship with girl, 14

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted a former North Attleborough Middle School guidance counselor and music teacher on charges that he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

The Sun Chronicle reports that Brian McBride of Attleboro is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on July 24 on five counts of aggravated statutory rape of a child, enticing a child under 16 and sending obscene matter to a minor.

The 31-year-old McBride previously pleaded not guilty in district court and was held on $30,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege McBride, who is married, had sex with the girl at school, in his car and at his home last year. He was the girl’s chorus teacher and gave her private singing lessons.

His lawyer called him “well respected in the community.”
