Two stabbings overnight in Springfield

Springfield police still looking for suspect or suspects

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — Two people are in the hospital Sunday morning after two separate stabbings overnight.

On the corner of Main and Court streets, there was at least one stabbing late Saturday night. Springfield Police Captain Trent Duda told 22News just before 11PM, at least one person rushed to BayState Medical Center with stab wounds.

When 22News got there, an officer told us that person was stabbed in the back. Police are investigating how many victims were involved as well as their conditions. They’re not releasing their names.

Police are looking for a Hispanic man, between the ages of 35 and 40 years old, at 5’8”. The suspect had his hair pulled back in a ponytail, and was wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt.

There was also another stabbing Sunday morning at 1:30AM at Stern Square. One person was taken to BayState Medical Center. In an update on this story, it has been confirmed that these two incidents are unrelated.
