Bench placed in memory of Jeremiah Oliver

The case will shake up the Child Welfare Department

FITCHBURG, Mass. (WWLP) – 5-year-old Jeremiah Oliver of Fitchburg had been missing for months before passersby found his body by the side of a road in April.

On Saturday, family, friends and volunteers dedicated a granite bench in a Fitchburg park, and also to honor those who searched tirelessly during the months Jeremiah was missing. A fund was also set up to help the dead boy’s siblings.

The child’s mother and her boyfriend have been charged in Jeremiah’s disappearance, but no one’s been charged in connection with his death. The case resulted in a major shake up in the Massachusetts Child Welfare Department.
