CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)- Law enforcement in the valley has had some challenges recently. Drug and gang activity are on the rise and the police and courts are busy trying to make a dent with prevention and strong police work.
But our local District Attorney’s are working to put an end to crime and the associated social and health issues by creating preventative outreach programs.
We’ll be talking with new interim Hampden County District Attorney James Orenstein about what he hopes to accomplish in the six months he’ll be in charge and the challenges he faces in combating violent crime.
We’ll also discuss with Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan about the rise in opiate addiction and the crime and social issues that follow that problem and programs he’s created that educate the public.
