AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – People in Hampshire County looking to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks will have to wait for the clearer weather to arrive this weekend.
Fireworks displays in the towns of Amherst and South Hadley have both been moved to Saturday night.
South Hadley’s display, which takes place at the Michael Smith Middle School, will now take place at 9:30 P.M. Saturday. Festivities will begin at 6:30 P.M. The display had initially been scheduled for Thursday night.
In Amherst, the Independence Day festivities were supposed to take place on Friday night, but now they will begin at 5:00 P.M. Saturday on the field behind McGuirk Stadium. The fireworks will launch at 9:30.
The region’s largest fireworks display, the Star Spangled Springfield fireworks, have also been moved from Friday night to Saturday night at 9:30.
