SHEFFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – As severe thunderstorms moved into western Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon, some ominous clouds came through, including one very low-hanging cloud in the southern Berkshires which caused some alarm.
22News viewer Marissa Clavette of the Ashley Falls section of Sheffield sent us this video of a very low-hanging cloud. She said that the cloud appeared to be rotating and moving pretty fast.
Storm Team Meteorologist Nick Bannin says that the cloud in question is not likely a funnel cloud (which becomes a tornado when it reaches the ground), but it certainly gave people reason to take shelter.
Southern Berkshire County did see some of the most intense storms on Wednesday, with several trees being brought down, and thousands of customers losing electricity.
