SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Friday is Independence Day, and some of Fourth of July celebrations in the greater Springfield area have been delayed by one day.
The famous Grucci fireworks set to go off from the Memorial Bridge Friday night will now happen on Saturday. Amy Burke with the Spirit of Springfield told 22News that the Star Spangled Springfield fireworks show will happen on July 5th.
The plans to close for Memorial Bridge have also been pushed back one day. To prepare for the fireworks, the Memorial Bridge will now close down to traffic tomorrow July 4th at 11:00 p.m.
The Spirit of Springfield announced early Thursday that the pre-fireworks musical performances, which include the Falcetti Music Youth Bands and Dan Kane’s Rising Stars, will be cancelled. Those performances were scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M.
Food vendors will be in place at Riverfront Park at that time on Saturday now, and family-friendly music, games, and prizes will be presented by Radio Disney.
