(WWLP) – Western Massachusetts remains under threat for severe weather Thursday night, as showers and thunderstorms are continuing to develop across the Northeast.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for all of western Massachusetts until 10:00 P.M. Thursday. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for the formation of severe thunderstorms, though it does not necessarily mean one is imminent.
Severe thunderstorms moved through portions of western Massachusetts late Thursday afternoon, with one storm causing downed trees and hail up to quarter size in western portions of Hampden County and central portions of Hampshire County. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were in effect for parts of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties earlier, but those have all since expired.
