Drivers work together to remove tree in Easthampton

Severe weather passed through western Mass. Thursday night

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A group of people driving through Easthampton, Thursday night, gathered together to remove a tree blocking Lovefield Street, just west of the Ferry Street intersection.

Tryggvi S. Jonsson, who sent the video above, said they didn’t wait for the DPW, instead everyone got out of their cars and worked together to remove the tree. They used small hand saws and finished felling the downed tree.

Local police arrived to assist in removing the tree. Jonsson said, “While the rain was still pouring down women, men, children and the police officer then picked up the tree and lifted it over the guardrail.”

After the tree was removed, the road was cleared and all the drivers got back in their cars and drove away.
