Tracking what to expect from Tropical Storm Arthur

Could bring WMass rain; cause strong rip currents at Cape

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Tropical Storm Arthur is continuing to strengthen off the southern coast, and should turn into a Category 1 hurricane over the next 24-36 hours as it passes by the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The storm will then continue to track north and northeast, with the latest tracks having it pass just south of Cape Cod and the Islands Friday night into Saturday morning. If you have plans to head down the Cape for the Fourth of July Weekend, you can expect some large waves and strong rip currents, but this is not to say you should cancel your plans! After Arthur passes, it will be a great Cape Cod weekend.

Closer to home, some of the moisture from Arthur, combined with an approaching front could bring us some heavy rain on Thursday and Friday.

You can track Arthur yourself with our hurricane tracker tool, and you can see what the rest of the week and the weekend looks like weather-wise with your latest 22News Storm Team Forecast.
