SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)- The Registry of Motor Vehicles is increasing certain fees starting Tuesday.
The cost of non-commercial registrations, annual inspections, and driving road tests are increased.
Registrations will jump from $50 to $60; inspections will increase from $29 to $35, and the driving tests will cost $35–that’s up from $20.
The increased fees are expected to close a projected $55 million budget gap for the 2015 fiscal year, and also go towards the state’s transportation system. The fee increases will also go toward customer improvements.
This fall, the Springfield branch will relocate from 165 Liberty Street to a new building that will be near 36 Martone Place, which is off St. James Avenue. That site will offer more parking and an EZ Pass Center.
