U.S.A lost to Belgium, 2-1, in overtime

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It became official, the United States is out of the World Cup. It was a rollercoaster of emotion at watch parties across Massachusetts.

Team U.S.A lost to Belgium in a 2-1 loss in overtime. It wasn’t the outcome people here wanted to see but they told 22News it was a good run.

Robert Hobert of Chicopee said, “You know U.S.A., that’s fine, I’ll take it, great team been working their butts off that’s all we can ask for.”

Kevin McCullough of Ludlow said, “It was a tough 90 minutes, we fought hard, we’ve got to make the best out of our opportunities.”

The Americans advanced from a difficult first-round group that included Germany, Portugal and Ghana to reach the knockout round.
