SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The President of the Massachusetts Latino Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new title.
Carlos Gonzalez officially kicked off his campaign Tuesday night to run for a state representative seat, vacated by Cheryl Coakley Rivera back in March.
Coakley Rivera took a job as assistant clerk in the Hampden County Superior Court Clerk’s office.
Gonzalez said he’ll focus his campaign on the local economy, “I’m passionate about working with and on behalf of my community. I will help and support programs that create jobs and opportunities, public safety initiatives, as well as increase education.”
Gonzalez will run against Ivette Hernandez and Melvin Edwards in the Democratic primary.
Primaries will be held September 9th.
