SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – People passing by the Barrows Spray Park in Springfield’s Six Corners neighborhood may have been surprised to see the sprinklers in operation during the early morning hours.
The park, located on Walnut Street, includes fountains that provide local residents with a safe place to cool off. But those fountains were in operation around sunrise Monday, even though no one was around to enjoy the cool water.
Patrick Sullivan of the Springfield Parks Department told 22News that vandals are to blame for the issue. He says that the sprinklers are supposed to turn on at 8:00 A.M. and continue running through 8:00 P.M.
He told 22News that a work order has been put in, and parts have been ordered to repair the spray park.
