SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Walgreens Wellness Bus was providing free medical testing in Springfield, before the bus leaves for a different part of the country.
22News found why the wellness bus has tested hundreds of people in Springfield the past week, and perhaps improved the way some people live their lives.
This is the third year the Springfield Urban League has brought the Walgreens Wellness Bus to western Massachusetts. Urban league Vice President Andrew Cade told 22News, in just fifteen to twenty minutes people receive one hundred and forty dollars worth of free testing.
“It’s very important to be tested as a matter of fact, he has various screenings to we have blood pressure, glucose, weight management all of that is entirely free of charge,” said Cade.
For its final day in Springfield, the Wellness Bus is located outside the Cedars Banquet Hall on Island Pond Road, where the annual Juneteenth celebration began just a short time ago. The Juneteenth celebration observes the end of slavery 150 years ago.
The testing will continue until eight o’clock Saturday evening.
Since the Wellness Bus started its free testing in Springfield three years ago, hundreds of people have been tested free of charge.
