Westfield Police officer John Blascak told 22News the Westfield Police, Fire Department, State Police Air Wing and State Police Dive team were searching the river with a helicopter, hovercraft, boats and people in the water.

He said people are not supposed to swim in that area, but they often do it anyway.

The darkness made it unsafe to continue the search for the night. It will begin again at 8 o’clock Sunday morning.
