Woman driving church van hit by glass during gunfire

Two men were shooting at each other on Hancock Street.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An innocent bystander lived to tell about being caught in the crossfire of two gunmen shooting at each other.

That was one woman’s terrifying and potentially deadly predicament in Springfield’s Old Hill neighborhood overnight.

Springfield Police Lt. Robert Moynihan told 22News, the driver of a Holyoke church van on Hancock Street was hit by flying glass, as two men on either side of his van shot it out exchanging gunfire.

The woman behind the wheel of the van kept right on driving through the fusillade of gunfire.

None of the bullets hit her nor does it appear either of the two opposing gunmen might have been wounded.

The cuts from the flying glass apparently weren’t serious to the driver, who survived being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
