NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s no joke. If you’re looking to buy a home, you can purchase one in Northampton for only $1. 22News is working for you to explain the catch.
The home is on 65 Paradise Road in Northampton. It’s owned by Smith College. The college is selling it for a dollar, but that’s because you’ll have to move it.
The college wants to build a new dorm. They want the home moved by September 1st.
It’s a 2,600 square foot home that was built in 1860. 22News asked people if they still think it’s a good deal.
“I think it sounds intriguing. I think I would definitely check out the property to see what kind of amenities it has. It sounds like a lot of moving expenses that you would be signing up for if you paid that $1, so you’d figure out if its worth it or not,” said Matt Kroner of Northampton.
The home’s listing agent, Roy Johnson told 22News it can cost upwards of $100,000 to move a home, and then you still have to pay for a new foundation and the land.
Still, he said it it’s a great home. If you’re interested, you can call 237-7757.
