CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s that time of the year again. Starting Saturday, western Massachusetts communities will hold Fourth of July fireworks.
Celebrations will continue next weekend. While many people enjoy the fireworks, our pets may not.
In fact, more pets are lost on Independence Day than any other day of the year.
Cindy Henderson of Hatfield told 22News, “We’ve never brought our dogs to the fireworks. Our dogs are afraid of hot air balloons so I’m sure the fireworks will be terrible also.”
22News is working for you with these tips:
- Make sure your pet is wearing the most current ID tag
- Never leave a pet alone
- Have a recent picture of your pet, just in case
- Play music or TV to drown out the fireworks sound
- Instead of coddling, play with your pet to distract him or her
