SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Around 1800 Western Massachusetts was swept up in one of the greatest historical transformations of all time, the Industrial Revolution. By 1850 the Pioneer Valley was one of the great manufacturing centers in the country, and its growth continued for decades.
At the “Made in the Valley” exhibit at the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, you can see a variety of products made in this region ranging from stoves and tools to games and radios.
