Witness helps Springfield Police catch car burglar

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested a 30-year-old man after a witness reported seeing him break into a car and stole several items.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, around 12:21 p.m. Wednesday, a witness was sitting in his car at a Chestnut Street parking lot when he saw Juan Lopez of Springfield breaking into a Honda.

Sgt. Delaney said Lopez grabbed several items from the car and ran down Main Street. After getting a description from the witness, Officers Charlie Youmans and David Pagan found Lopez on Main and Medford Street.

Lopez was positivity identified by the witness and then placed under arrest. He was charged with Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle for a Felony

The person who owns the car broken into was able to get all the belongings back, said Sgt. Delaney.
