About Riverside Industries:
This year Riverside is celebrating 45 years of empowering adults with developmental disabilities . We are calling the year—- IMAGINE THAT!
Riverside Employment participants work at local colleges, hotels, supermarkets and other businesses. Riverside’s Lawn Care Crew works for local businesses and at people’s homes. Riverside has a “growing” team of participants that are developing skills, while working at Riverside’s farms on the Easthampton/Southampton border, and on-site in the Greenhouse at One Cottage Street Easthampton. Employment participants, like all of us, take great pride in a hard day’s work and getting a paycheck at the end of the week. Riverside Farm & Garden program participants sell the vegetables to local restaurants and at the Easthampton Farmer’s Market. If you have ever wanted to dig your hands and feet in the dirt, you can do it by volunteering for Riverside, for just two hours, during the week between 10a-2pm, this Summer! Riverside Employment participants, requiring greater support on the job, work at One Cottage Street on local and national business contracts to do their packaging, assembly and procurement needs.
Another distinct program is Riverside’s Life Enrichment program for adults living with more severe developmental disabilities. Life Enrichment offers opportunities for personal growth, independence, and quality living. Each participants’ comprehensive goals and objectives include; traditional clinical and nursing services; alternative therapies; and community activities. With Riverside support, participants identify their own needs and wants, like all of us, to live a more full and rich life.
The Riverside building, at One Cottage Street in Easthampton, has a foot print of 165,000 square feet of space. (Donated by J.P Stevens for One Dollar) Riverside programs occupy 50,000 sq. feet, and the remaining 115,000 sq. ft. is affordable rent for 85 studio artists… which in turn, supports the Riverside mission.
