LEDYARD, Conn (WTNH) — A Mashantucket mom with a previous conviction for drunken driving was arrested again on the same charges. Police say she was driving under the influence with her two kids in the car.
Police say 29-year-old Elizabeth Whipple crossed the center line in her 2012 Honda and hit another car. It happened on Center Groton Road in Ledyard around 10:30 Tuesday night. Police say she hit an oncoming Kia driven by John Hobert of Ledyard.
Police did not release any information on injuries. Hobert was the only person is car when it happened and Whipple had two kids in in hers.
According to officials, Whipple’s car did have an ignition interlock device installed, but somehow she avoided using it before driving.
Whipple is charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive right, avoidance of or tampering with ignition interlock device, and risk of injury to a minor.
Whipple was convicted back in 2012 for the same charges of driving under the influence.
She was released on $10,000 bond with a court date of July 10, 2014.
