Thousands were left in the dark in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts Electric Company crews are working to restore power to customers in Franklin County after a power outage Tuesday night.

According to the WMECO spokeswoman Toni Berlandy, a tree fell across some branches on Laurel Road, and WMECO shut power to more than 3,000 customers, so they could safely take the tree down.

Power was restored to most of them within 20 minutes, and Berlandy said power should be restored to everyone by midnight.
